(January 27, 2000) Milpitas, CA - DISC Inc. (NASDAQ: DCSR), a leading manufacturer of automated library solutions for enterprise storage, announced today that eMed would include DISC's storage product line in it's Archive Management suite. DISC's optical storage libraries, ranging in capacity from 104 GBs to 5 TBs of data create the ideal archive for the medical marketplace offering long-term, secure storage and fast retrieval of images at a reasonable price. Relative to RAID systems, Disc's optical libraries provide customers large capacity storage at a fraction of the cost of online solutions. DISC's 5.25" magneto optical (MO) storage devices are combined with eMed software as part of their FRAMEWAVE Compression Archive, allowing customers the ability to securely store images from multiple sites, thereby creating a central archive location for images throughout the enterprise. Disc's scalable library configurations store up to 1,070 MO disks. The high-performance of the storage devices allow users to quickly review medical images and related patient information at their review area. Both DISC and eMed aim to offer unmatched price and performance at any scale. eMed's products permit the coordinated transmission and review of medical images, and related patient information, over local and wide area networks as well as the Internet. Disc's magneto optical libraries and disks with the highest possible data density (5.2GB per disk) are used to maximize cost effective image archival. This combination provides immediate and reliable access to images for healthcare professionals. "Today the healthcare industry is faced with an increasing demand for cost-effective image management solutions that support the evolution of diagnostic imaging from a film-base to an electronic, information-based enterprise," stated J. Richard Ellis, DISC President and CEO. "We are pleased to provide eMed with a reliable image archive that is fully scalable to meet the growing demands of their customers' image-management systems."
