(August 25, 2000)
Milpitas, CA - DISC Inc. (NASDAQ: DCSR), announced today that Robert
W. Riland III has been promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Since Mr. Riland joined DISC, the company has initiated plans for further
growth into the enterprise storage market.
"Bob Riland has made significant contributions in the short time
since he joined DISC," said company president and CEO, J. Richard
Ellis. "Through his efforts, we have developed and redefined the
sales and marketing tools necessary to grow our market. Bob's energy and
enthusiasm are a welcome addition to the company."
Mr. Riland originally came to DISC to head the marketing and business
development programs in March 2000. His previous experience with Maxoptix
Corporation and U-tron Technologies, in which both companies experienced
60% annual revenues and growth under his leadership, is a testament to
the caliber of talent present on the DISC executive team today.
Mr. Riland has been the visionary in raising company visibility above
the traditional storage markets and has begun to lay the groundwork to
successfully deliver DISC's message to a wider audience.
"We are focusing on building storage devices that add capacities
to networks for a fraction of the cost of RAID," said Riland. "This
new focus allows us to move our efforts from the traditional niche markets
we have been targeting to the general network storage arena, thus increasing
our market potential."
