& Systems GmbH, has released the PoINT Jukebox Manager Version 3.2
with support for DISC's entire Orion series. This release enhances the
range of information management devices supported by PoINT, and allows
DISC's NearLine Storage devices to share a common server and file system.
With the release of PoINT Jukebox Manager Version 3.2, DISC can offer
a wide range of data storage solutions, bringing the latest technological
developments to users, including:
- Transparent read/write access to the complete line of DISC libraries.
CD, DVD-RAM and MO libraries can be supported in any combination
- All Media can now be formatted and written using Universal Disk Format
(UDF); a file system defined by the Optical Storage Technology Association
(OSTA), and fully compliant with ISO 13346 standards that enable file
interchange among different operating systems. This allows Windows,
Mac & UNIX clients to share media and files
- Complete Barcode support for the Orion Series Magneto Optical Libraries,
as well as Pack support for the DV Series CD/DVD libraries
- Offline data management for media and packs removed from the library
- Powerful file server support for Macintosh clients, including full
read/write support of DVD-RAM, and read access to HFS CD/DVD media
- Transparent "drive letter" read/write access to CD &
DVD media using UDF file system. This feature allows sequential writing
of data directly to CD & DVD media using UDF. This allows document
and information management applications to archive data directly to
CD & DVD devices
PoINT StorEasy, in combination with the PoINT Jukebox Manager, provides
Windows clients with a simple, effective tool for backing up and restoring
data files using DISC's DVD-RAM and MO jukeboxes. This flexible addition
to the jukebox manager is also capable of spanning large files over multiple
